Being a wedding photographer on Schiermonnikoog was a great experience. When I heard that I was asked by Chris and Robin for their wedding, I was excited right away too! Not only because it is a beautiful island, but also because it has long been on my wish list to photograph here again. So I took my camera and rented a bike to go all over the island and discover the most beautiful places, Laurette even went with me for a mini vacation!
Chris and Robin have a special connection to the island, as Chris has been coming here all his life. So it was very nice to see all the family and friends come together for this unique celebration. The atmosphere was great during the preparations and I noticed that everyone was really looking forward to it!
The day began with Chris and Robin getting ready in separate cottages (where there was a lot of laughter right away). After this, the first emotional moments already followed, I loved the look of grandma seeing Robin for the first time, but also the first-look in the chapel with all the family and friends was special. Then we headed to the beach and dunes to brave the autumn cold for a short photo shoot.
During the photo shoot, we had a little challenge when the rented tuk-tuk got stuck in the sand. Although pushing the tuk-tuk out of the sand was not my idea (nothing just for the pictures!), we had a good laugh together.
After the photo shoot, we quickly returned to the St. Egbert Chapel, where the ceremony took place. What an attractive place so in the middle of the island. The dinner took place at Restaurant van der Werff, a beautiful building with an atmospheric setting. Laurette later told me that shipwrecked sailors and sailors mostly stayed here in the 1800s (of course, she had done a cultural tour while I was at work, haha).
After dinner, it was time for the party and the opening dance at Birch Lake. The party completely erupted from moment one as I slowly got back on my rental bike to cycle through the dunes to the hotel room.
All the more fun when a day later on the ferry we heard the final stories of the evening from one of the guests, it was a cool wedding weekend!

P.s. Robin and Chris also left some kind words via Google Review, great right!
In addition to being a fantastic photographer, Marvin is also an incredibly nice person. We are so impressed with how he was able to capture our day so beautifully. We can really recommend him!
